Currently there is GHG reporting Scope 2 guidance update on the way. The improvements are focused on making the electricity modelling more granular. The update has been meeting with increasing scepticism. Specifically thinking about datacenters and IT industry where every company is trying to demonstrate the sustainability commitments by purchase of RE certificates and ever increasing stress on the electricity grids. It would be interesting to see what it would mean to go granular (both location and market) for Scope 2 mapping in different locations.
